Coexist
with sharks.
サメと共存する。
As ocean temperatures rise, shark encounters are increasing across Japan. Anglers lose catch. Fishing gear is destroyed. Aquaculture nets are breached. The economic damage is real. And growing.
Culling, cages, abandoning the water altogether. The conventional responses are costly, dangerous, or ecologically harmful. The IUCN Shark Specialist Group lists 17 of 58 shark species as threatened with extinction. Extermination is not a solution.
Since 2013, 株式会社花園 has been developing a different answer. Field testing began in Japanese waters. The result is an electrical shark deterrent that works reliably, automatically, without harming the sharks. 海園 is the result.
Today the electrical shark deterrent is used by fishermen, divers, and fish farms across Japan. The goal has not changed, and it is printed on every Kaien business card: サメ被害ゼロを目指す — aiming for zero shark damage.
